Too bad they didn't have the balls to produce such a vehicle. Should have done much better than BMW's C1.

Damn, someone else remembers the C1!

I would've like to have seen this come to fruition, though NA safety regulations would likely have mandated a non-cyclopic headlight and front signals and messed with the design.

I'm pretty sure MB also made a four-wheeled concept car that had all four wheels lean into the turns, but I haven't the brain power to wield my usual Google-fu.

Would've been funny for sure, we've got the Carver from the Netherlands, but that wasn't a massive success was it..

The Mercedes you're thinking of is the F400 Carving. Would love to see this as well, if it works we'll probably see it in a supercar in some years.

That's the one, thanks!

Although the body is a little overwrought (not to mention the helmets the occupants are wearing are best described as tragic), it's still a neat idea. Materials Science and computing power have only gotten better since that came out, so it's more than do-able!

I remember the Carver (initally from Top Gear, naturally) and I thought it would be a great commuter/weekend runabout, but as you pointed out, it wasn't really meant to be.

I even see them sometimes ... but then I also see two Twizy... twizzies(?) quite regularly. They share the feature that is "no doors".

I really need to get the money together to go to Europe - Isderas, Twizys, all the neat stuff we don't get here.

I'd go out on a limb here and say that it's just the flight that can be mighty expensive. The rest is ... doable?

Maybe if I get work visas in the respective countries - great crash course in speaking the lingua franca, no? :-)

Now that sparked some curiousity ... what would your line of work be?

Wow, what haven't I done - Currently working a warehouse, but I've done restaurant/fast food. warehousing, manufacturing, , shipping/receving, tech support, systems administration, and for a couple of stints I was an apprentice electrician.

I sold furniture for a while, but I choose to not so much count it as an occupation, but as a form of penance.
